Narrative Therapy

Re-authoring Our Lives

We carry multiple stories about our Selves, our lives and experiences. There are many nuances and layers in these stories that are sometimes hidden and disconnected, be it through traumatic experiences, hard and unforgiving circumstances, and social/economic contexts that challenge our lives and identities. It is in the rediscovery and re-telling of our stories that we can find parts of ourselves that are profoundly strong and brilliant.

"Narrative therapy seeks to be a respectful, non-blaming approach to counselling and community work, which centres people as the experts in their own lives. It views problems as separate from people and assumes people have many skills, competencies, beliefs, values, commitments and abilities that will assist them to reduce the influence of problems in their lives." - Alice Morgan
